3 answers and all of them are wrong. Although CA and PSYOP are no longer part of Army Special Operations Command, CA and PSYOP are still the most deployed reserve units. CA and PSYOP make up 5% of the total Army Reserve strenght, but make perform 20% of the Army Reserve deployments.

PSYOP is PRIMARILY in the Army Reserve and not the National Guard.

PSYOP is NOT part of Civil Affairs. PSYOP and Civil Affairs come under CAPOC – Civil Affairs PSYOP Command.

Yes, there is only 1 Acitve Duty PSYOP unit, but it is the 4th POG – PSYOP Group. The only Active Duty Civil Affairs unit is the 95th CA Brigade (formerly the 96th CA BN).

The 4th POG, 95th CA Bde, and HQ CAPOC are all at FT Bragg.

CAPOC was under USASOC – US Army Special Operations Command until about 2 years ago. At that time, the Reserve units were moved from USASOC to US Army Reserve Command.

The Reserves still don’t know how to deal with CAPOC units and recruiters don’t have a lot of knowledge about them.

Psychological Operations are part of civil affairs units. The 96th PsyOps Battalion is the only active duty unit. It makes up 4% of total Psy Ops personnel. 96% are reserves in the following units:
351st, 352nd and 353rd Civil Affairs Commands
358th and 361st Civil Affairs Brigades

All units are based at Ft. Bragg, but the personnel are scattered worldwide.

I may be wrong about this, but I THINK that all PsyOps units are in the Army Reserve. I think PsyOps and Civil Affairs are the two things the Reserves have that the Guard doesn't. It's a fair trade. I'd rather have combat arms, SF, etc anyway. Again, could be wrong.
