V.S.Ramachandran of …
V.S.Ramachandran of Secret of the mind uses a mirror to heal the pain from the missing limb. The mind can be fooled that other limb is there and the pain subsides. yeah it was almost like affirmations in a way. Like the mirror we can look back in the past and capture those moments when were at most happy. Your past has real treasures.

A good example of how affirmations can work well when done well, and the follow up comments by Jamie, below, are well worth keeping in mind.

Really great and …
Really great and simple demo without hype and with realism- I love the fact you chose someone who was skeptical as a subject. I’ve experienced the power of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and I’m starting to study NLP. The techniques are powerful, yet simple and without “occult”.

I dont know jons reasons, but I like your point to the fullest…
its just like nonstop teachings of the same lessons at school to sit where you have to sit, or stories of aliens. the more it repeats the more it gets “reality”, “truth”, your “limit” etc etc

That easy knowledge probably saved my life, before I ever heard of NLP and such.
And my wishes are finally getting a real thing, with lots of hardship at the moment – but REAL, so close , no one thought of this speed of realisation and personal growth.
some still try to change me back to the old mood..for reasons of their own.
I heard bad thing about NLP and stuff but ..
lessons like THIS should be even teached at pre-school, just like HIV – prevention should be taken serious !

Surely it wouldn’t …
Surely it wouldn’t matter if the ideas in Alan’s head were put there by somebody else or self-generated – they would have the same neurological effect.

Hi Jon, I am using …
Hi Jon, I am using loads of sugggestion (this is taken from a hypnosis course after all), but what makes you think that Alan’s suggestions to himself are any less powerful?
February 10th, 2010 at 10:28 pm
The reason for this …
The reason for this is the direct suggestion Jamie is using – hypnosis by the name of NLP

When I first …
When I first started learning NLP, some of the ‘great & good’ dismissed affirmations. Then I noticed a lot of my clients were using affirmation – really crappy ones like “I’m no good” / “I can’t do it” / “I’ll never be happy” etc – & they really worked great! They key is to engage the emotions.
February 10th, 2010 at 10:28 pm
I recommend saying …
I recommend saying the affirmation as an “I am” statement, then noticing whatever thoughts / feelings arise. Then accept those thoughts / feelings by saying “Thank-you”, & breathe into them. Then say the affirmation again after a few moments. Repeat as necessary!
