Is joining the Army as a 37F Psychological Operations Specialist a decent ranking?

I have no prior military experience, but I do have a college degree. Is it about average to start as an E4?
Hmmm…well I know I am naive and all, but that’s what the told me I’d be. I have it in writing.

It’s not average to start as a E-4. Starting as a trainee is average so that’s 4 steps better.

You can’t. You have to be an E-5 or above to enlist in that MOS.

edit: I just did some checking, and it appears they’ve changed the standards. An E-4 is going to make you stand out in BCT. Don’t try to boss anyone around or anything stupid like that. It’s a decent start, but don’t get full of yourself. In BCT, everyone’s equal. You’re just a "special private."

In the real Army, you just have to be in for 6 months, I believe, before you’re eligible to go E-5.
