whether your observation is true or not, sal, i suggest you reconsider the evo-psy explanation. darwinian selection theories applied to human beings can be very powerful explanatory devices. but be careful not to note a phenonmenon and then speciously supply an evolutionary premise that doesn't fit. until probably 25 years ago, human fetuses weren't even viable until gestation periods of 7 months or so. if your evo-psy explanation were correct, females would become especially attached to their male pals after around nine months.

The major friction point is not the $1 cost, it is the effort involved in pilling out the wallet at all.
